Sight...A very important sense

Sight....how do you see things, events, happenings, and people? I believe the way you answer the question will tell you a lot about yourself, your outlook on life, and the way others perceive you! There are two elements to the sense of sight. The first being seeing something like a sunset, you are watching nature at it's best. Second being how you see certain situations. Do you see the bad in every situation or do you see the good? Are you able to see clearly what is going on in your life? Basically, are you wearing rose colored glasses or do your glasses have a few cracks in them or are your glasses completely shattered.
My glasses were shattered for a long time. Slowly, I changed to the glasses that had a few cracks, and finally I am wearing glasses that are so rosy everything looks red. That is ok, my favorite color is red!
I am going to talk about the what we see in nature first, and why we should stop and look around. If I have time I will continue on to part two. If not now later.
I love trees! I love staring at trees. Trees make me calm. It is amazing to me that trees go through so many cycles in a year, tragic ones at that. A tree is beautiful and filled with lots of leaves all shaped in different patterns in the summer. Then in the fall those leaves change to most beautiful and vibrant colors. We all want to take trips back east to see the trees in the fall. I can't get back east. I appreciate the trees right where I live. Then the tree dies and becomes barren in the winter. And then out of nowhere the tree comes back to life in spring. Wow! That is something to be in awe of. Maybe I am fascinated by trees because my life has been a lot like a tree. Many times, I am bright, brilliant and full of life, and then I am dead inside thinking I will never be full of life again, and then out of nowhere I am alive and full of life again! Take the time and look at how beautiful a tree is.
I don't care where you live. You can enjoy a sunset and sunrise. My favorite place to do this is Maui. There is nothing better to me than watching the sun rise over the West Maui Mountains while sipping my chocolate macadamia nut coffee with three splendas and plenty of cream! After watching the sunrise, we head to the beach. There I watch the humpback whale breach with its calf. What a sight, to see a creature that humongous barreling out of the water with its baby simultaneously can only be considered a miracle. After seeing that with my eyes I think nothing can be more beautiful. Oh, I am wrong. Around 6:15 that evening while walking down Front Street, near Cheeseburger In Paradise the sun starts to set behind the Lanai. The sky is bright with so many vivacious colors you need to wear your sunglasses. As the sun starts to disappear behind Lanai you stand there being thankful for the sight you just witnessed!
Does it get any better than watching snow fall outside your window while your children are playing and a fire is burning? That brings nothing but warmth to your heart. You might think it is the hot chocolate that is bringing the warmth, but it isn't, it was what you are seeing that is giving you a feeling of contenment.
What about the geese that are flying over your head in a perfectly formed vee, that is crazy. They are fluid and graceful birds! Then you hear a honk and you wonder "how did they form that vee?"
I love catching mothers staring into their baby's eyes with huge smiles on their faces! It brings a smile to my face. Or watching the toddler that has just learned to walk. You can see the elation in their face. They are free to run away from their mother!
I love when light catches an indoor plant at a certain angle. Or watching a crab bury itself in the sand. I can go on forever, and I think you get what I am talking about. You need to know, me, a person that was not always happy or fulfilled, saw these things in the ways I described at my lowest points. I believe seeing the wonder of nature and the gifts God gave us kept me going on my journey!
Ok, gotta go. I will get to part two later!
