Here We Go Again....If HE were black..

Michael Phelps is photographed inhaling marijuana from a bong. Who cares? You know what, this kid broke the Olympic Gold Medal record. He collected eight gold medals! Can you even fathom that accomplishment? Do you know the dedication and work it took him to get there, while being raised by a single mother? The same dedication it took black athletes to get to where they have gotten, in the NFL, NBA, MLB, and they are all treated equally.
All of these athletes get huge salaries, and even more in endorsement deals. Whether right, wrong, or just plain unfair there is nothing we can do about it. We put athletes up on these pedastals and expect them to nurture and be a role model for our children. Guess what? It is not their job. It is our job as parents, to instill, hard work, diligence, character, and perserverance in our children. If you are expecting Michael Phelps, Michael Jordan, or Michael Vick to create and mold your children into great athletes, or children who can go against the odds with their determination and work ethic to become the next star athlete, then you shouldn't be a parent.
Give Micheal Phelps a break. He is twenty three years old, and has not really had a chance to spread his wings and just be a college student wanting to party a bit. I took a poll this morning on Fox Sports online, the other site besides Red Room that I am always, and voted to leave Michael Phelps alone. So did 79% of the other people that answered the question. But of course on man had to say "if he were black he would lose all his endorsements." What the hell? I am outraged, when does this stop? Stop crying that if so and so was black or white blah blah blah!
Let's take Adam "Pacman Jones" who did play cornerback, most recently, for the Dallas Cowboys. He has been suspended numerous times for all his off the field antics. Get this, he has been arrested at least six times and involved in at least a dozen incidents that required police attention. Hello?! What does the NFL do? They keep suspending him and reinstating him . In my mind, he should not be reinstated once again. How many chances does he get? Here is the kicker, he is black. And so what? This is not a black, white, hispanic, or japanese issue, this an issue that NFL has to deal with, and not based on color but based on performance. You know what, maybe if he was a white player and we kept giving him these chances a black person might claim if he was black he wouldn't get a second chance. It is irrelevant. He is black, he has gotten a lot chances, and if he was white, I would say the same thing, it is time to kick him out of the NFL.
I believe in the three strikes you are out rule. Every one makes mistakes. We cannot be perfect, no one. Not even my beloved Michael Jordan. If you make a mistak, we need to sit down and talk and come up with a plan on how to make sure this doesn't happen again. After the evaluating process we get you the help you need, and if you make that mistake a second time, we sit you down again. We lay out the rules for you in writing. Something like, ummm,if you smoke marijuana, get in a bar brawl, show up with an illegal gun at a strip club, test positive for steroids, have illegal dog fighting in your backyard, or your posse is involved in a death outside of a night club, or domestic violence charges are brought against you one more time you are out! Plain and simple, you will be kicked out after the third offense. I would then make them sign it, keep them in counseling or whatever to help them and if they commit the offense a third time, they are done!
This is not a black or white issue. This is an issue for sports all over the world. If there is one place that there is equality between races in this world it is the wide world of sports. Manny Ramirez just turned down a $25 milliion dollar offer from the Dodgers and he is Hispanic. If you are a superior athlete, whether, black, white or hispanic you are making money. They are all held to the same standards.
Michael Phelps lost an endorsement from Kellogg's. That is a significant loss of money. He is white and he was dropped. Please stop making this a race issue. Michael Phelp's is a kid, he made a mistake, let's move on. Maybe he can bring home nine medals in four years. It is all about learning from your mistakes in life. No matter what race you are, we are all the same, we all make mistakes, and we all deserve forgiveness.
